It's hard for me to believe the Joe Gibbs who introduced the 1 RB offense to the NFL (does anyone even remember what a 2 RB set looked like?) has nothing to do with the O plan in Washington.
I'm not that close to the situation and if you have followed them I guess you are probably right. He may have realized he doesn't understand the modern game. But neither does whomever is the risk adverse ***** running their O now. My point was whomever was pointing their finger at Brunell was off the mark. He's old too. But he could win with the talant they have in Washington if they had a game plan. |

Al Saunders and his infamous 700 page playbook is the Offensive coordinator for the Redskins. He got a 3 year, 6 million dollar contract earlier this year.
How they can produce the offensive play calling that they do from that playbook is beyond me. I think you are right about the Brunell thing. It's not all his fault. I will maintain till the end that the problem with this team is Snyder. He's been trying to use gimmicks and buy championships since he got here, and it just isn't working. I think he saw the hiring of Gibbs as a bulletproof move that couldn't possibly go wrong, and now even that has. I'm really not sure what decisions Gibbs is making for the team...maybe the coin toss? Gatorade flavor? His role on the present team has been the butt of many jokes around the DC area, and I even saw one of the network pregame shows poking fun as well. It's a damn shame too, because he's one of the best of all time. Yeah, I guess I'm a little frustrated too... |
