I know this really has nothing to do with it, but could it somehow be because of timing? One would think that the handle would be greater for a race that goes off at 4:30 est as opposed to 7:30 est bc alot of horseplayers will be right in the thick of things at east coast tracks.
Even with the ease of which I can make a wager these days, I'm more apt to play a west coast race while it's sandwiched between the two or three tracks that I'm following that day, then I am to wait a few hours after my the tracks are done running and get back into the swing of things with a fresh approach. None of this makes any real sense, just my two cent$.
