Standard Poodles are a neat breed - nothing sissy about them and scary smart.

For the reason you give is precisely the reason I do not like Peke's. Man has interfered so much in developing this breed that they're basically good for nothing.

i don't like poofy dogs. give me a german shepherd, weimeraner, husky, or any working dog or terrier any day. a peke, or most any other toy-you can have it.
i was pulling for the fox terrier, but considering the age and history of a scottish deerhound, i was happy that one won. and thank goodness, not a poodle in the mix. some years, a couple of them invade the last round.

Same here. I fully expected to see the Black Cocker win, but was pulling for (what I thought was the) unlikely Scottish Deerhound. I can't remember the last time that the dog I was hoping to see win BIS actually did win it. Nice comments by the judge afterward.

Regarding the Black Cocker, was it just me or did the handler never seem quite prepared to move her dog when asked?

It does take longer for certain breeds to get ready to move because the handler removes the collar and leash as they are standing for examination and then has to put it back on to get ready to move. Did you notice how long it took for the Skye Terrier handler to move the dog because he was brushing all the mussed hair back into place?

I always laugh because they all shake when they get off the table and mess up their "do"

I am sure it irritates the handlers of the long haired one to no end.

It was good to see a real dog win and not the freaking Pekingese. That's not even a dog, it's some kind of overgrown cat/rat hybrid.

That is a Pit. For sure, my brother has one from a litter that everyone kept up with, all the friends got one each and remain in contact. His (Daisy, I know...) is a great dog. I have a mutt we thought was mostly Fox Terrier but she just kept getting bigger and bigger. It is now obviuos that Pit was a major influence in whatever else she might be. Wound up at 60lbs. We tell people that she is a Toy-Akita, this elicits some great responses. I will see if I can get a pic up.
