![]() Obama scored from 80 to 90% public approval of State of the Union speech. All those independents? They are right with him.
Obama reset "center right" with that speech, back to what it used to be before the GOP went off the rails to the far, far right over the past 5-8 years. Nearly everything in that speech was a Republican talking point. The far, far right has been dragging the center off into the woods, but Obama just put it back. If a valid (meaning not crazy) GOP candidate appears (that would be Mitt Romney) and just abandons the crazy far right Tea Baggers, he could give Obama a run (although it's hard to see how Obama could lose the next election, his personal approval remains so high - perhaps if unemployment is still high)
