They just can't resist putting Soldat back on dirt. I like him and hope the best for him but he moved up so nicely on grass.

He's certainly training well on it at Palm Meadows. With graded stakes earnings already in the bank, no reason not to take a shot. I imagine some of the rivals were surprised to see him turn up in this condition.

If you listen carefully you can actually hear the money being incinerated on Soldat in his impending dirt race failures. Or, maybe he will be the reincarnation of Temperance Hill, and it will pour the day of every big race. Even then I'm highly skeptical.

Agree completely. . . I really like him as a turf horse, but he will never be anything on dry dirt and will almost certainly be a casualty of Derby fever.

Don't slop horses generally love the turf? In 2 dirt starts at 2, he ran 2nd on a fast track to Bail Out Cat (5 1/2 furlongs) and then 2nd by about 5 to Wine Police on a sloppy track. He's going to take a ton of money in the FOY, but that could be a huge race with Boys and THAS among others going. Maybe he won't take all that much $$, now that I think about it, because BAT and THAS will take $$$ -at least BAT will have had a race. I wonder who THAS' new jockey will be............

I was so looking forward to seeing Dialed In, but I think Nick made the right decision to scratch...........

Ya they do. . . that's the point. To believe he's a good dirt horse because of a slop performance is wrong. Almost all the War Fronts (besides The Factor) I've come across have seemed to prefer turf.
