Default Hotstufanthensome

Nice horse raced hard made people a lot of money. It's a bad situation. The horse needs medical attention and a home. I wonder if the vets that "prepared" him for 700k in earnings will step up and offer up there professional services pro bono..lol I am disturbed that the folks that owned him when he made his main tally havent stepped up. This is reality Sightseek. Really nice horse that is hurt and needs a lot of money to get him just to a point were he can stay alive and do little comfortably.. So who is to pay the 10k that this gelding needs to be ok and live the rest of his life doing not much but costing someone a lot of money? It's a tough question? i don't have the amswer.

Oh man I've been a fan of his forever.

This breaks my heart.

In the article they say where to donate but don't provide a link so here it is for his other fans here...

http://www.horseadoption.com/Merchan...Code=donations

Let's help him out.

Yeah that's awful.

To give them the benefit of the doubt is it possible they don't know?

Maybe they will help him out now...

God I hope so.

as a long time supporter of rerun and the countless organizations that do similar work, it troubles me to see that there are no rules in the racing industry that would make money available for the retirement of ALL race horses.

would even just 1% of every purse in every race be asking too much to help keep them from going to very bad places?

Thank you for posting this cause I never would have seen it otherwise...

This was so beautiful it almost made me cry.

People have said that Mr. Migliore should be the czar of racing, the face of racing... that he should be the representative of the sport.

THE representative of the sport.

I agree, of course.

Even though I've only followed the game since 2004 he has always been the good guy, the one with class and grace... soft-spoken, literate and my highest complement... a gentleman and a scholar.

(That he is a phenomenal rider, obviously, goes without saying).

This? This just solidifies that thought.

I don't know how practical this idea of his is... I've never been the type to have an idea and think of how to actually put it in motion so I'm just not sure BUT BUT BUT you can feel everything he says through his words so now I'm thinking not only should he be the face of racing but the representative of a dignified retirement for our friends as well.

People like me do the little we can when we can. We know full well it is nowhere near enough but I guess collectively we think that if more and more people would just do a little.....

Someone like The Mig would be so good for - not just the whole of racing but, individually, for the horses. For bringing attention to things like this with compassion and new ideas... for showing the haters like PETA that no we do look after our own.

We take care of them, of all of them, with dignity once their careers are over.

That is something we need to be able to say so for his suggestion and his heart I (once again) applaud The Mig and hope that he keeps speaking out and that those words are taken into account by others who can set wheels in motion and make good ideas a reality cause man Hotstuff deserves so much better.

They all do.

One of my personal highlights as a racing fan was the honor in getting to meet The Mig after the Breeder's Cup. As long as there are people like him in racing I believe there is hope for the future.

i hate hearing these stories. why has money replaced honor? that horse was a favorite of mine. he was one the hardest runners out there. i can see why mig spoke out. that horse kind of reminded me of fourstardave. he ALWAYS gave GOOD account win or lose. to throw him aside like this is a sin........i guess i'm an animal lover but these horses spill their guts WIN or LOSE. its just not right to turn on them just because they can't race anymore. they give us excitement and memories that last a lifetime but are somehow "expendable"....just not the right track.....people can do better!

I certainly support Mr Migliore in his vision . It can and needs to be done to bring our sport to the status of the other major league sports . We are overall, moving in the right direction and there is much support for it as expressed by the sincere feelings of the posters on this thread . Hotstufanthensome gave the game everything he had .

thanks, i got pinwheel from my condition (chronic vertigo)...i know i'm a dizzying pain in the ass...especially in that retarded political forum and basically talking crap. but, one thing i am serious about is animal abuse and neglect..animals like horses ,dogs and cats never judge, never hold contempt. they'll love you and trust you to the end if you are an "animal" person and can relate to them. i love them. the best trainer/owner is NOT some moron that mistreats his animals to win a horse race, its the person that cares about their welfare FIRST and wins anyway. LIKE THEY ARE FAMILY. i'm not a fan of PITA but racing should avoid these stories so those radicals don't have a leg to stand on.....besides it being the right thing to do which unfortunately is becoming "offbeat" in the current culture. people like mig, bobby frankel and all these retired horse foundations are heros to me.

thanks for the update. why do think i love animals? they are SO EASY to get along with, they really are. when i first started commenting here(derby trails)...i was pretty sick and bitter. alot of time i was just venting and it probably was not pleasant to some. i'd write things just to inflame the situation. my fault is a lack of humility, which leaves me using this keyboard as a weapon some times...others here do it too but i'm feeling like I was WRONG. seeing the way sick, old and disabled animals and PEOPLE are treated in this country really made me rethink my actions. these beings are not junked cars! i'm telling you these kind of things really bug me and make me think. instead of ranting and raving i'm going positive. instead of using my ability to express ideas(write) to win arguments or hurt people...i'd rather focus on these issues that really can make things different....in a BETTER WAY.....like these people do to save these horses! you should not be sorry.....i am
