![]() When I was in School at U of Az the Indians used to have spring training in Tucson at Hi-Corbett field (where a lot of Major League was filmed). The bullpens used to be just folding chairs along the outside fence down the foul lines. Feller would always be down there talking to the pitchers during the games. My friend and I used to go and sit down there and ask him questions and he would always bs over the fence with us for innings at a time. Nice guy.

God. Anyways,he certainly wound up being a person who was loved and hated,althought the extremes may be a little extreme here.But he was the first MLB player to volunteer for the service...the day after Peal Harbor, I think. So that speaks very highly.We're all the sum total of what we are, good and bad. He played the game when it was a game, don't ya know. |
