How exciting!!!

Okay I know he IS Remarkable but I'm gonna say Jimmy wins, the Remarkable one 2nd (which could be completely ridiculous, not sure) and either Icepin, Cellmaster or Twilight Savings for 3rd.

Of course I will silently root for Upsala and hope that both he and Encosta Diablo do well enough... (especially Upsala ).

Have a great time, ed!

Lots of rain down there today, apparently! The track has gone from a Good 2 to a Dead 4. Uh oh. That makes it even more confusing.

Yes, that was great! They showed that race on the big screen at the track, and the crowd went crazy.

Yes he absolutely does.

Oh my God ed I just watched both, well Jimmy winning twice.

Lovely. Just amazing.

Very cool about showing the Wall Street race.

Is it me or is the Upsala jockey hitting him when he's already looking like he's going in reverse?

You're right. I hadn't noticed that. Taylor hardly ever rides in the big races, so maybe the occasion got to him, but that's no excuse. I see he got a warning for that.

But it was such an awesome day. I was like "what I have I got myself into?" when I left a warm, sunny Auckland and got to Christchurch - it was 7 degrees Celsius (about 40F I think), windy and raining, and a duck waddled across the paddock as I was walking through the gate at the track! But the racing made it worth it. The rain stopped in time for the big races as well.

Apparently Jimmy's going for the Derby now. I'm a bit unsure about that. He's a BRILLIANT miler, but at a mile and a half against Lion Tamer and He's Remarkable? I don't know. I'd prefer to see him stick to shorter distances. His dad, Thorn Park, was all speed. I don't see stamina in his pedigree.

But he's a wonderful colt, and good luck to them.

How far is Christchurch from where you are?

Too cute about the duck.

Morty this thread is about NZ racing.

There are some fantastic replays with horses you might not know... check it out!

OR go play somewhere else.

Please.

Ed;

Really....stick with trying to capture kangeroos with your big net while bouncing on your giant Slinky.

You will get there.

Now that is impressive! There were too many I liked in this race, so I decided to just watch.

I didn't know the answer to that until today...not good! I'm happy to forgive him for that.

But wow, Jimmy. What more can you say? I've never seen him run so well (and he's run loads of good races!) I thought he was gone about 300m from the finish, but he just kept finding more and more and kept fighting. Such a brave win.

And just in case we didn't already know, the run of the second horse proved that he really, really is remarkable. He's going to be so hard to beat in the Derby in March.

I also loved this undercard stakes race: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hrA2bf_AkaU
