Spectacular Bid's walkover Woodward

Was there a story that surrounded the race? Did horses scratch or nobody else entered?

I ask because, I just find it amazing that CBS still carried the walkover on TV and these days networks don't show any kind of major race outside the TC. I guess it's just another sign of how far the sport has fallen.

Temperence Hill and Dr. Patches were scratched from the field.

edit: Winter's Tale was an early scratch

Thanks, I was wondering the same thing. I had thought from this clip that Winter's Tale had broken down or something, but that didn't seem quite right. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Winter's_Tale_(horse) He died in 2002 at age 26. So did WT have shin problems before the Woodward or was that a separate physical situation?
