That said, it's going to take Afleet Express winning the the JCGC and Classic to wrestle the award away from LAL. Even then it might not be enough.

Agreed, but Curlin, though he didn't win it did run in the Haskell too. LAL would make 4 in a row to hit those two races and be a champ.

Considering they are two of the more important races for 3 year olds it makes sense.
