One of my favorite races was the Personal Ensign. It was great to see some of the top distaffers actually compete against each other for a change, even if the outcome wasn't what many expected.

I thought the horse to bet back out of that race was the pace setter who finished 3rd.

The overpriced Birdstone? He'll be transferred to Suroor and never heard from again if he ever wins. . .

A dead on the board Birdstone from those connections carving out that early pace. I thought he would be tough going 8f at Belmont.

Everyone was dead on the board in that race except for the Nick piece. Pace was on the slow side. . . I think he's a trap. He can probably win a maiden race at some point, but won't be much down the road.

Aruna will be a very interesting longshot in the Garden City. . . Motion has two other nice turfers - Unbridled Humor and the Australian-bred Dehere that debuted a couple of weeks ago.

How about Check the Label too, a legit Graded Stakes 3YO grass filly...

Too soon, actually. Probably Keeneland instead.

Best Older Turf Filly- Proviso, Dynaslew

Best 3yr Old- Afleet Express, That IEAH private purchase, maybe Fly Down?

Best 3yr Old Filly- Blind Luck, Devil May Care

Best 2yr Old- Uncle Moe, POS @ Tosscashitta... Still going to love Stay Thirsty going long.

Best 2yr Old Filly- Todds Daughter of Summer Colony, Todds Daughter of Bellamy Road

Best Jockey- JV, Javier was great... But dam where did some of JV's good turf rides come from.

Best Trainer- Todd Pletcher, Linda Rice

Best Finish- Whitney and Travers tie...

Best Public Handicapper- Byk, My avatar...

Horses that need to retire- Forever Together, Informed Decision

Im sure there is a lot more to talk about...
One of your co-older horses came into the meet as the clear leader of the horse of the year discussion and prohibitive fav in his division and leaves the meet with a slim chance to win both titles. Great meet.

I find it hard to believe that anyone would think that Castellano wasn't the best rider.

Or that Devil May Care who also probably blew her eclipse and didnt even hit the board in one race would get lauded for doing that.

You would have thought Discreetely Mine would have gotten some love but I guess winning 2 stakes at the meet isnt nearly as impressive as losing at 3-5

What's the obsession with Stay Thirsty? Because he's by a flashy 1st year sire and has a cute name taken from a funny beer campaign? I'm not sure how you can watch any of his 3 races and predict greatness going 2 turns.

He clearly stumbles yesterday, makes the lead on his own against 2 horses who looked to be faster early on. I like him moving forward.

How does him stumbling and then making the lead equate to him getting better as he goes longer?

I agree that he was compromised by the break, but he wasn't beating the favorite yesterday, regardless.

My opinion of him is this.... From day 1 they wanted to go long with him. Repole was on Capital Otb Monday, I believe him. Everything he is doing now is on raw talent. Its likely one more race then BC. When he comes back sometime in Jan-Feb thats when I think we see the new horse. I could be wrong, but I just think there is a world of talent bottled up in this guy.

I remember when I used to believe everything owners and trainers said. Then I turned 16.

You're probably confusing talent with jizz.
