At the OTB here in Jax, they only pay cash up to 5k, anything more has to be a check.

Wow a Seinfeld reference, that is some quality journalism right there. I see a Pulitzer in their future............

That is the kind of luck I would have. In other news Tiger's #1 mistress is buying a 1.8M condo on Park Ave with her Tiger payoff.

The guy is a fool for not either taking a check or being escorted to his car by security for which he would have to tip the guy a very small fraction of what he hit.

Given the size of the score hopefully the OTB took his taxes on site otherwise he'd be out another capital gains sum unless his losses offset.....you gotta feel for the guy though.

I feel sorry for the guy, but mentioning Seinfeld reminds me of Kramer whipping his horse down the stretch. It is one of the greatest scenes of the series.

I couldn't embed it, but here's the link...

I believe that is the law. They should have taken 25% right off the top before paying him.

He may have had a reason for wanting cash, most of which are probably illegal or an avoidance of his responsibilities.

I don't have any reason to have that much cash on me, so I would take the check every time.

Why 25% Bigs? Whenever the stars have aligned to allow a hit >5K it has always been 21%. Delaware or MD.....but I am working at adding more states to the sample.....

I have only experienced Florida and my ADW taking out 25%. Seems to be a jurisdictional thing.
