Exactly. Baseball moves in split seconds and umps have to go by things like how quick the throw gets there. Cant always see the tag.
But in this case, especially after seeing the replay, I really believe that Pudge was tagged. Now maybe the umpire couldnt see the tag but he had to see the throw beat Pudge, and to me it was not clear enough that the tag was missed. No way. Bad call. Hope it doesnt make the difference in this game.

why has instant replay never come up in baseball? just curious what people think

No instant replay in baseball...calls, good or bad, are just part of the game.. Football has proved that instant replay doesn't work..

Chalk (or paint) just flew down the left field line on a Tiger hitter....FOUL BALL... No big deal...
