I remember the first Breeder's Cup with Pete and Harvey Pack working together. What a great combo they were.

Anyone remember when Pete picked the Bud longshots? I think it was the Gotham...can't remember the year, but he nailed a $400 plus exacta of Pauncho Villa and Thirty Six Red as his Bud longshot.

I think Pancho Villa was in 1986 so were talking going back two decades. Nice score but I hope there's something more recent on his resume.

There is a LOT more on Ax's resume. His book " The City Game " is a great read about basketball in NYC.

I consider myself to have been very lucky to have known him for a number of years and have nothing but nice things to say about him. He was a terrific guy.

I thought the Pancho Villa reference was about Goldberg. But I guess it probably would've been Axhelm, who was covering racing back then.

I think they should change the name of 58 flat to "Caruthers on Caffeine"
