I agree with your statement wholeheartedly. I don't believe comparatively he may stack up talent wise to most of the other near missers, but I think he should have won the TC.

i liked Afleet Alex. he might not have been a "super horse" but as he matured he was going to be awful tough to beat. his Belmont may have been more impressive than his Preakness. by Belmont history, the only final split faster than AA was Secretariat. AA won by 10? or more?

No I am not that old to Remember this but one who should Be added to the List Would Be Coaltown, He got tired of chasing Citation Around in 1948.In fact Coaltown Was voted horse of the year in 1949 because Citation set out the year with an Injury |

There are a few horses that deserved it ,Point Given,Smary Jones, Sunday Silence, Silver Charm, Afleet Alex and even Real Quiet, But no horse deserves it more than SPECTACULAR BID. He was probably the best horse ever to look through a bridle.
