Declare "states' rights" & see Feds in court.

In related issue, several (I believe 14) barges were required to return to port for Coast Guard safety inspections. I caught Gov Jindal's sound bite during last night's local newscast. Alledgedly, CG checked fire extinguishers & verified adequate number of life vests were on each vessel. While away, thousands of gallons of crude oil further encroached on coastal marshes.

We in Louisiana need Fed dollars, then just get the hell out of the way. This mirrors FEMA problems after hurricanes.

.
The Federal Government is so big and bureaucratic it can't get out of its own way. This latest move is equivalent to pulling an ambulance in for an emission test while transporting a patient to the Emergency Room. Obama and his bureaucrats just need to get out of the way. And whoever the Coast Guard official who ordered the barges to port needs to be fired yesterday.

Even I don't think Obama would sink that low. At least not with this.

If he did maybe ONLY Riot will remain in his corner.

Local radio is talking about the White House refusing all foreign aid because of loyalty to Unions. What a mess.

sure he would. the judge threw out his six month drilling ban. chances are a local official would allow dredging to continue, so why not hassle the dredgers a bit. find a violation, shut them down. it's not a low, it's business.

You mean like the way Obama took the equipment from Norway and Denmark? The stuff Sarah Palin chastised Obama for not taking, when we'd had it since day 2?

Dell, we can count on you, no matter the facts or reality, you're anti-Obama

After delays, U.S. begins to tap foreign aid for gulf oil spill
By Juliet Eilperin and Glenn Kessler
Washington Post Staff Writer
Monday, June 14, 2010

Four weeks after the nation's worst environmental disaster, the Obama administration saw no need to accept offers of state-of-the-art skimmers, miles of boom or technical assistance from nations around the globe with experience fighting oil spills.

"We'll let BP decide on what expertise they do need," State Department spokesman Gordon Duguid told reporters on May 19. "We are keeping an eye on what supplies we do need. And as we see that our supplies are running low, it may be at that point in time to accept offers from particular governments."

That time has come.

In the past week, the United States submitted its second request to the European Union for any specialized equipment to contain the oil now seeping onto the Gulf of Mexico's marshes and beaches, and it accepted Canada's offer of 9,842 feet of boom. The government is soliciting additional boom and skimmers from nearly two dozen countries and international organizations.

Dell - probably best not to call other posters names before you check to see if doing so will come back and make you look ... clueless.

Oil Spill, Foreign Help and the Jones Act
June 23, 2010

Q: Did Obama turn down foreign offers of assistance in cleaning up the Gulf oil spill? Did he refuse to waive Jones Act restrictions on foreign-flag vessels?

A: No to both questions. So far, five offers have been accepted and only one offer has been rejected. Fifteen foreign-flag vessels are working on the cleanup, and none required a waiver.
