Most tracks in the US (synthetic or "dirt") are made of a mixture of 75-85% sand along with clay, silt, loam, (and in the case of synthetics) other "stuff". I believe the nylon he's talking about will be used as a screen to keep the top layer(s) of the track from getting into the bigger crushed stone and drains. On paper this could work, but on paper synthetics do, too.
