First day at Royal Ascot this morning. After some handicapping I’ve developed the following opinions: in the Queens Anne (first of the day) of course Goldikova looks well primed but has never been over the course so that’s a question. Underneath and as a backup I’m at the usual suspects of Paco Boy and Rip Van Winkle but the value may lie with a 4 year old named Ouqba with Richard Hill who may be coming into form (34 – 1).

In the King’s Stand there’s an Aussie invader named Nicconi who is all the rage but I may look at Equiano, a French colt, who has lost to an inconsistent Kingsgate Native but will probably be better at 5 furlongs than 6 and should be better value.

Lastly, in the St James’s Place Canford Cliffs is coming in off a good looking form pattern. With Steinbeck and Makfi also taking money Canford Cliffs may drift up to some value. The rest of the Tuesday card is 2 year olds and stayers and I have no opinion on any of those.
