No more welfare races. Jesus. It's like having a track and field meet with a 100 yard dash for runners on Soma only.

OK...so I guess it's ok to go from the one to eight path and knock the **** out of a horse as long as that horse is no longer in contention.

You make a good point, should have been taken down.

I had the 3 in the ****ing Pick 6. The NYRA stewards are absolute crooks. If I get 5/6 I swear to God I'm never betting another NYRA race as long as I live.

I think all we are looking for from the stewards is consistency- there is none.

Not saying that horse should have been taken down, because I would have left her up, but I've been taken down for MUCH MUCH less.

You would've kept her up? After she veered out 7 paths in midstretch? If that doesn't get you taken down, what does?

Phil, why shouldn't that horse be taken down? Sure, had no effect on the winner, but any chance the 4 may have had was flushed down the toilet when Studart cut in front like that, it was dangerous riding and took away the chances of a horse in the race. If I owned that 4 I would be furious as it probably took a better placing and check from the owner.

It makes me wonder why Ramon didn't claim foul.

My guess is because claiming foul would have had no effect on his mount fee since he would not get put up 1st or 2nd. If I am not mistaken, if he claims an objection and the stewards don't agree, he gets fined. The owner of the horse is who gets screwed because it cost a better placing and a possible higher check.

It will lose though.

Good luck the rest of the way.

To be fair, I thought the 4 was backing up and wasn't going to finish any better than what he did- and she never actually made contact. There's no doubt that it was dangerous riding and stupid on her part, and she should get days for it, but why penalize the bettors who had the winner if it truly didn't affect the order of finish? The 4 was never going to finish better than 5th- so at most a difference of $500 in purse and nothing on the betting.
These turf sprints are just awful for everyone involved- they suck to bet, the horses are terrible, and because the trip matters so much the jockeys end up practically killing each other. I wish they would just stop carding them.
