What a great call, but damn, it still hurts.

Alysheba, I'm confused... are you saying you thought Smarty Jones loseing the Belmont was a "great day"?

It was certainly the most exciting day I've spent at Belmont.

About 8-9 years ago Tom Durkin called a neck and neck stretch duel between Congomambo and Kyungbokkung. He nhever stuttered over either name. Average race, great call.

I love Vic's "earthquake" race and of course, "..moving like a tremendous machine" is part of racing history.

Thank God horse races can be " great results " with more than one specific horse winning.

In addition, I'm glad to see Triple Crown winners remain great horses....or at least the ones in my lifetime.

i believe andy was happy to see nick zito win a classic race with birdstone. and of course mary lou whitney is one of the grand dames of racing. then there's the fact he didn't like smarty to begin with!

Of course! Some of my favorite days in the sport have been those days. I loved seeing Big Brown spinning his wheels and going nowhere, and Real Quiet failing to sustain the 7f drive his jock tried to push him through. Seeing a horse I feel is undeserving fail to win the TC, and seeing a smug trainer be all disappointed about it, and maybe winning some cash while I'm at it? You can't beat it!

I was, however, very disappointed in 2003. I was there that day, and I really liked Funny Cide and would have enjoyed seeing him win it.

I suspect the call where we hear "Morethan Fourhours....gets...up" on the 5/31 ATR is not gonna be ranked one of the best ever. Viagra commercial on the brain?
