![]() Any update on the Mig? I thought I read in the paper yesterday that Richie was supposed to address the media. Did anyone hear anything?
Hopefully he is doing better.

![]() Rich made the announcement that he has officially been forced to retire. More later and tonight on ATR.
It was a very emotional scene.

![]() I think Mr. Migliore used to lurk on here, if so let me be the first to say, he will be missed, one thing I could always count on when I bet a Richie horse was he would always give it his best, whether it was a 25K claimer or gr.1 stakes race. That is the best compliment I can give a rider. Happy retirement Richie.

![]() Godspeed, brother.
I don't know if he has the credentials to make the HoF, but if they judged it on character, integrity, and personality, he'd be the first jockey on my ballot. Here's hoping he gets a job with NYRA or something to stick around the track.

![]() Very mixed feelings here... I can't imagine how hard this is for him but I'm glad in the sense that all of you are.
Jockeys get bashed here and on other forums all the time. The Mig though? I don't recall seeing critcism. I'm sure it exists somewhere but it ain't here. A gentleman, a decent type, one with heart, one who clearly loves the horses and hey... I'll always love him for Desert Code! Happy retirement Mig... on to even better things. When it gets tough and you really miss flying down the stretch? Maybe remember that collective sigh of relief from your hundreds of thousands of fans (and your family... I just didn't want to be presumpteous by saying that). THANK YOU. You are the face of racing... everything that's right about the sport. Feel better. |
