8.6 mil views in 1.5 months...Just saying (not just "nutjob Scuds.") It's low-viscosity. Don't ever let anyone tell you that North America is falling behind in everything. We make the best artists in the world (by far,) and it isn't a close competition. Last edited by SCUDSBROTHER : 05-24-2010 at 01:58 PM. |

![]() He's a decent lyricist at times but he's not exactly ummm, he hasn't done enough to be writing a song like this (to me, anyway).
That and I can't get over the fact that he was one of those (God-awful) Degrassi kids. I'm mean, I know. Not exactly the one keeping Cash Money afloat though, is he? Seems a tad self-absorbed. There's nothing wrong with confidence but it's a little over the top with him. Just my opinion though. I'm listening to A Saucerful of Secrets (Pink Floyd... like I need to even say the name). |

He's got the 2nd most popular R&B/ HIP-HOP song in the country, and the album isn't even out yet. The 15th one on the list is nice too (and "prettier" than this song....o.k., more White Friendly.) He can definitely write a pretty pop chorus. I'm not a big fan of rap verses, but his transitions into (n' out of) choruses etc. are pretty damn good. The instrumental on this is so good that I'd listen to it without a vocal. I rarely am attracted to a song by it's lyrics. I am attracted by the melody, and the way it flows. After a while, I'll start wondering what the lyrics are. I know that's odd, but that's me. They're important to me, but secondary. A song like LOLLIPOP is an exception.... Yea, he comes off as full of himself. I think some of that is due to him trying to blend in with a group of people he didn't exactly grow up with. He's a well to do kid from Toronto. He had a Bar Mitvah. Now he's hanging out with musicians who most likely grew up a different way. They tend to be over the top, and he's doing the same. Maybe he's always been this way. Lead Singers are often the equivalent of really smart 6 year olds. He can definitely write well. From what I've seen, his weakness is performing. He doesn't move a whole lot. ![]() You're absolutely right and part of what makes rap art, part of what makes it what it is... the new renaissance, poetry, a reflection on society, however one chooses to look at it, is its honesty. The good rap anyway... not the hey-I-bought-a-rhyming-dictionary-and-i'm-gonna-rap-about-bitches-cars-and-louis-v garbage and God knows there's a lot of that trash out there. |
