told my husband that all doors leading into schools should be locked, and remain so--of course they're made that you can open them and get out, but no way access should be so easy. buildings full of potential victims, and anyone can just walk in. think about it, when was the last time you walked into your kids school and anyone challenged you or asked why you were there?

only one entrance, with an intercom and camera system--buzz the button, state your business, and then they let you in--maybe!

i think it wouldn't hurt to have all class doors locked as well.

The Amish are obviously better than me if they can forgive that gutless piece of sh*t.

Pretty sure the piece of garbage will spend eternity rotting in the bowels of Hell….

The Amish live apart, yet their small world has been touched with insanity and loss.
Their response is "forgiveness". They even sent their own to the perpetrator's family to offer comfort.
They responded to their loss with compassion, not revenge.
They responded to an act of hatred with an act of love.
They have shown peace when anger filled their "safe world".

To me, their gentle actions speak louder than any words I could possibly say.
For that, I'll continue to respect the Amish.
They evidence the beliefs that they live by.
I wish them peace while they confront their losses.
May their gentle children also rest in peace.

Plain, not simple. Strength despite adversity.

I lived in Lancaster from 1979 to 1992, the Amish are wonderful folks...they deserve our respect! Just think how the world would be if everyone responded to such a horrible act as the Amish have! We would have no war, no hatred...just the individual violent acts of the insane or evil folks that would be easily dealt with!
