It's always good to be able to go against a favorite. Barring any unforeseen developments Bernardini will be a heavy favorite. He's a baby of the press. He's run some solid times but no records -- and in every major race his primary competition has been injured -- Barbaro in the Preakness, Sunriver in the Jim Dandy, and Bluegrass Cat in the Travers. He's beaten Grade III/allowance company at best. I'll throw out a tired Brother Derek (who has yet to prove he can still race effectively) and a tired Sweetnorthernsaint (who has yet to prove he can even make it back to the track) in the Preakness.
For me, Bernardini is a solid bet against in the BC Classic. If he runs, and he should, Perfect Drift would be a good price play. Bernardini has never faced a horse that good and PD just ran a hell of a race in the KY Classic. He's run against the best horses in racing since the '70s (including Bid here) in Ghostzapper, St. Liam, Congaree, Roses in May, Pleasantly Perfect. He'll have JuLep in the irons, he's Dynaformer, he's run well at CD, and he'll get the 10F with or without tough fractions. I don't know where Bright One stands, but Bright One and Discreet Cat are two 3 year olds who could beat Bernardini. Not to mention the older horses. We'll know more as the field shapes up. It's got to be better than the joke they are calling the Jockey Club Gold Cup. That's not a race -- that's a joke. |

The funny thing is that, really, you are quite right... ![]() Only people on this message board would associate the name of a race with sex... Must think horse racing, must think horse racing, must think horse racing...LMAO. |

Well if Bernardini loses the BCC the ladies are gonna have to make sure their man doesn't get too stressed and has to resort to 'juicing' his wood.

We're young...our minds are allowed to be in the gutter every once in awhile
Besides, this message board takes on a very serious tone most of the time because horse players are normally very competitive people. It's nice to lighten the tone of the atmosphere every once in a while. I'd much rather be fun than a sophisticated bore most of the time. (...I hope this stuff doesn't come back to haunt me one day...LOL). Yep, now you've definitely got my mind in the gutter...Must think Horse racing, Must think horse racing, must think horse, think crop, spurs, latigo tie straps....LOL...I failed Last edited by kentuckyrosesinmay : 10-02-2006 at 05:20 PM. |

I actually hope he loses this race so there are more question marks come BC Day, stone cold single for me in the Classic and him running a good 3rd or 2nd will be better for my odds then him winning by 3. He might be even money if he wins the JCGC.

Scavs if he wins on Saturday there is zero chance of him being even money on BCC day. If Fusaichi was 4-5 coming off the Jerome, Berarnd has gotten twice the press and may be as low as 3-5 no matter who shows up.

A point that has not been discussed concerning Bernardini is that he most likely will continue to improve as he grows more mature. Being that he is at the very least as fast as the top older runners, the thought of him improving is really interesting. However we still dont know if those "sporting" men of arabia will let us ever find out how good he can be.

He is like fine wine. I think the Sheikh takes great pride in him; his Darley is the listed breeder. Hopefully, Darley will let us enjoy this special horse next year. |

Cash Call is going to have a record day if he loses in the BCC.
