Let me tell you something PG once told me, this is actually when I gained respect for him.... He said Bellamy Roads Travers is what made him the clear cut leader of that group.

Afleet Alex doesn't lug in with a few jumps left and he's probably your first Triple Crown winner since 1978. That being said, I know there are many DT-ers who don't think much of Afleet Alex.

I still can't believe he didn't go down in the Preakness. A truly athletic horse. And he was very good short and long. I was impressed. Not as much as by Smarty but yes.

In 2005 that wasn't the case. Bellamy Road's Wood certainly had people excited, but so did the final preps of Afleet Alex and Bandini.
