Vice President Joe Biden, perhaps overcome with excitement during his speech congratulating President Obama on the passage of health care reform, dropped an F-bomb on live television when he turned to Obama and said, "This is a big ****ing deal."

The microphone just barely catches it, but listen closely and you'll hear it. This is surely a high point in Biden's long history of verbal gaffes.

UPDATE 12:54 PM The White House must not be too upset about Biden's comment -- Press Secretary Robert Gibbs just tweeted:

"And yes Mr. Vice President, you're right... "

I doubt millions of Americans want to give up these following legal (as of this morning) rights:

Below are some of the reforms that will take effect this year.

Are you uninsured due to a preexisting condition?
For now, insurers can continue to discriminate against people with preexisting conditions, but within 90 days the administration must create an "interim high-risk pool" for the uninsurable. The Department of Health and Human Services can run the $5 billion program itself or farm it out to states or nonprofits. To be eligible for the program, you have to be a U.S. citizen and uninsured for six months due to a preexisting condition.


Are your kids uninsured due to a preexisting condition?
Within six months the law will prohibit insurance companies from discriminating against children with preexisting conditions.

Do you have older kids who will soon "age-out" of your family plan? Young adults will be allowed to stay on their parents' plans until they turn 26, instead of being dropped at 19 or after college.

Are you a small-business owner?
The bill offers tax credits -- up to 35 percent the cost of premiums -- to small businesses to make it easier to cover employees this year.

Are you paying for drugs in the "doughnut hole"?
The law should begin to close the hole, which refers to a costly gap in Medicare Part D prescription drug coverage

Have you been dropped by your insurer because you got sick?
Six months from now, insurers will no longer be allowed to drop policyholders when they get sick.

If you fail to purchase insurance you will be fined by the IRS.
If you fail to pay an annual $695 fine per person in your family..or TAX. Sent to prison for failure to pay when you are poor is unconstitutional.
If you develop an illness or are in an accident, then you can go buy health insurance and they have to take you. Insurance companies will be forced out of business.

But heck for every job lost at the insurance company can be gained at the IRS!

You're listening to the wrong people What is posted above are scare tactics from last summer. They have only the faintest basis in reality, then are taken to absurd extreme.

Anything remotely to do with the above (not what is written above, but what is really contained within the bill, of which the above is not representative) doesn't come into effect until 2014.

Health reform has very little to do with "free insurance". It mostly provides simple consumer protections to those who work hard and pay for their own insurance. Like me. Who has paid for health insurance for decades, then was rescinded when I had a major medical expense - months AFTER the insurance company specifically approved and promised payment for that expense to the doctor and the hospital.
