![]() I think I read that the Derby isn't on Zito's radar for Miner's reward. As Steve said, he'll probably go in an allowance, and assuming all goes well, will prep for the Preakness in the Cliff's Edge Derby Trial.
That shouldn't surprise because the CEDT is sponsored for the first time this year by LaPenta in order to promote his stallion, The Cliff's Edge. It should be expected that he would want to have a promising up-and-comer run in that race. Miner's Reserve makes perfect sense, I would think, because he's promising, he's an up-and-comer, and he's really just a little bit too far behind the 8-ball, experience and earnings-wise, for the Derby to be a realistic target here in mid-March. I like him a lot. I hope they do well with him. |

Alphie’s Bet, Caracortado, Interactif, Setsuko, Sidney’s Candy and Who’s Up. |

![]() According to the latest Santa Anita barn notes, Alphie's Bet in fact has NOT been sold.
Also, Interactif is not heading to the Santa Anita Derby, instead he's pointing to the Blue Grass. |
