It really was great hockey and limited commercials made the pace seem that much faster. Obviously thrilled with the results, but Brodeur played soft and stupid and Miller on fire so taking it with a grain of salt. Still would be amazed if they can get a bronze. Although the hitting was tough, there still seems to be a level of respect among all the NHL guys not to go too crazy. Wait until we start playing the Russians, etc with half NHL and half Club players. Those Club guys won't give a crap about who they hit or what they do to them.

And how about the Canadians doing a Three Stooges and all running into each other..that was classic

that was pretty funny...

reading this am that brodeur should have been pulled. it was a fantastic game, edge of your seat type play. only bad thing was the play by play guy, i don't care for doc. i have a feeling it's going to be russia winning the thing, but i'd LOVE to see the u.s. pull it off.

I don't know about that, 2 of the goals were deflected in and one was off a mad scramble in front (that Marty actually created). And this comes from a person who despises Marty. I would love nothing more then for Babcock to do the unthinkable and put Luongo in. You would think that it would be the ultimate slap in the face for the guy who might go down as the greatest ever (as painful as it is for me to say).
I do think that since he is allowed to handle the puck more (because of olympic rules), actually hurts him because it's something he doesn't get to do anymore and he is excellent at it. But he does it so much that, it seemed last night he was always scrambling trying to get back into position and I believe it cost him on at least one goal.
I not a big Emrick fan either, but I think him and Eddie O did a good job last night. I enjoyed the game/telecast very much (but the outcome probably had a big thing to do with that). Also for the most part last night except for the late penalty against the U.S., the refs did a good job letting them play.

I like Eddie O as an analyst, though I laughed out loud when he said this is "tremendously tremendous" late in the game.

We are lucky to have him as the Hawks everyday color commentator. A huge horse fan too...took down the big $106K Pick 6 at SA last year. See him quite often at the OTB and met him at the Rene Douglas Charity Dinner...really good and classy guy.

i'm a marty fan and with all the traffic he had right in front of him all night. i thought he played a heck of a game. look at all the odd-man rushes he faced and Started odd-mans in canada's favor. marty didn't play a bad game, IMO.

Darren, I was actually defending Marty. I don't think a goaltending change is warrented. I was responding to Dani's take on Marty's performance. Like I said, I think you can only fault him on one, maybe two of the goals.

was trying to add onto yours. canada can't expect to get off 44 shots and not get MB hung out to dry.

All the Canadiens are losing their s.hit. They all want to see Luongo start the next game. It's very comical.

i'd be SHOCKED if they ride marty from here on out. Its Luigi's net to lose now, and if they lose its over. Marty was his usual self last night, overhandled the puck, and his swat out of mid air cost him a goal against singled handley. I'm sure Yzermen is pissing in babcock's ear about the switch, HOF or not, the guy is not as sharp as he once was, and letting him play out of pride and the fact that this is gonna be his last olympics is gonna cost the canadian a chance to medal. that and the fact that they have a 2nd year guy like drew doughty out there over the likes of robyn regehr, jay bouwmeester, and mike green.

Reguardless, Babcock is in a no win situation. Anything less than a gold on home soil would be considered a dissapointment anyway. But you would think that Yzerman would have shouldered most of the blame. Now there is a major decision that has to be made and all of Canada will second guess and look to hang Babcock if they fall short of the Gold. Personally I would stay with Marty.

Funny you mention Doughty. I really like the kid, but is it me or did it seem he was on the ice the entire game (especially in the 3rd period)?

and he was their swing man on the point on PP as well, he had to log the most ice time for all defencemen.

as far as who's to blame, its gonna fall directly on Yzerman, could have told you that when he made his final roster. To bring guys like pronger back for another go around, you knew there was gonna be hell to pay if they didn't win gold. To bad a lot of peoples judgement is clouded and they cant come to grips with benching a HOF goalie, all the while its the right thing to do.

as for brodeur, i don't know if i agree or disagree, i just know that some said he should have come out.
