Good Parade, 7 year old mare who had never won, in her 14th start, at Southwell. She had been pulled up in her last race. This time out half the field was pulled up... she didn't make it though. I hate adding this name...
Black Bear Island. In his first out he was 2nd (Sea the Stars was 4th). He beat some other really nice horses home... horses like Crowded House, Native Ruler and Kite Wood. He had won the Dante and was, of course, 2nd in the Secretariat. A real shame. He had won his last race but that was back in the summer of 2007...
He was 10 then. 12 year old Garryvoe (IRE) fell at Fontwell on Sunday. He sadly broke a leg and had to be put down. * * * Orana Conti (FR), 8 year old mare, was leading at Chepstow when she fell... She had just run 10 days ago and this was only her 12th career start. Of the 6 runners only 1 finished. Two were pulled up, two unseated their riders and one won. Held up in the early stages, like second-placed Bally Wall, third home Selection Box and fourth Sigma Lifestyle, the Brian Hamilton-trained Chief Oscar took the lead from the weakening Blank Hand five fences from home and was never headed.
