For starters - his trip on Oaks day was more than very nice - it was perfect. The pace was absurdly fast (99+13, 101+8, 98+2) and he got the patented Borel ride that turned Mine that Bird into a completely different horse the next day. I'm also not sure what to make of Munnings running second now that we know he hates wet surfaces (granted, the track was "good" and not "sloppy"). You can only make so many excuses for him before the 113 looks like an exception and not the rule. He might be able to win this race with a mediocre performance because there are a lot of question marks in the field, but I will be shocked if he ever runs back to the big fig and shakes his current status as a perpetual underlay. |
