LOL! A grand is a ton of money for me too. I just have sh-it for brains.
Good luck ateam, although I doubt you'll need it with this monster. I havent made a bet that large on a horse in about 4 years.

$1,000

$200 - night out on the town with a lady with a figure to die for

$600 - invested in a fund, stocks something that has a chance to help you years down the road

$100 - purchase some new kicks for the night out on the town with the lady

$100 - a strong pick 3 or 4 ticket singeling dini

total = $1,000

other option

$1,000 to win on dini - if dini runs second, third something crazy the emptiness you will feel will linger with you for years. Not soo long ago everybody and their brother thought LITF (RIP) was a lock.

That's not bad actually, but new kicks for me cost way over $100 usually.

I know $1,000 is a lot of money to most of you. But it's a LOT of money to me. Notice the capitals.

And I've got **** for brains too Gander.. Otherwise I wouldn't be considering this. LOL.

For the record, my post to grow a set was tongue in cheek. Although I love Bernardini's chances, I can think of far better ways to turn a grand into 2 grand than a straight up win bet. Why not a late double that day? You wont get even money by the way. I'd bet a grand on that!

See that's the thing though.. A double makes no sense unless I feel as strongly about the horse in the last as I do about Bernardini. And that's very unlikely.

If you could find a race where you felt very strongly about 2 horses, it would make a lot of sense. You could bet two $200 doubles, and you could even save with 1 or 2 other horses ($50 doubles) to get yourself even on the entire bet. So you would be spending $500 instead of $1,000.

Your desired goal would still be the same, to win a grand. So you would need your 2 main doubles to pay in the range of $15-20 to achieve this. Your secondary doubles should pay between $25 and $35 to get you even.

Obviously if you found a horse that yielded a double even better than mine above, you could potentially create a huge score for yourself.

The plusses- A huge score could be had, way more than $1 grand. If Bernardini does lose, you only lose $500. You have that other $500 to get out in the last race of the day if you so choose to do so.

The minuses- Bernardini could romp and a bomb or a heavy favorite you thought had little chance could win the last and you'd lose money.
