Seems like every other day there is a winning City Zip 2YO or 3YO at the NYRA tracks....

City Zip was moved to Lanes End after one year in NY State and his stud fee was raised from $7500 to $15000. One would think that breeders will start to send better mares to him going forward given his record over the past couple of years.

Then again, i am slightly prejudiced. My first horse ever is by City Zip and should be hitting the track in about 2 months. Can't wait..... and keeping my fingers crossed.

And, by the way City Zips are winning at an amazing 25% of total starts on the turf....

Congrats to Tim Ritchey and company, but let's not get carried away. Tim will tell you himself that it is a whole different ball game versus open company. Tim will definitely make the right decisions when it comes up to where I'm a Number Guy races next and in the future. I know there are plenty of New York supporters on this forum that wish that New York Breds can be competitive with open company, but the numbers don't match up. They are simply behind the proverbial eight ball.

The avg foals around the country per year:

Kentucky - 8,500
Florida - 4,500
California - 3,500
New York - 2,000

I do have to admit that New York breds are better than California breds overall. It would be a much fair challenge to have NY vs. Cali state bred races than FL vs Cali in the Sunshine Millions.
