i'd imagine it's a small cost of living raise for the military, since the govt already said there was no increase in the cost of living. military should be pleased they got something that soc sec recipients were told wasn't happening. does the military give up a lot? absolutely. but do keep in mind, it's a volunteer force-when you enlist, you know exactly what you're signing up for. no one who joins is under the impression they will get rich working for uncle sam as a soldier/sailor.

Wow, pay raises....that's the kind of thing lots of people haven't had the luxury of getting for about two years now. Bonus rollbacks in lots of companies, stagnant wages while cost of living rises. For a second there, reading all those posts, I was almost convinced of a major conspiracy against the military to keep their pay and benefits low while the rest of us overwhelmingly prosper with huge pay raises, plentiful jobs, and free money baskets handed out if you can prove you voted for Obama.
