i'm into the bobsled. the team has it's first chance at gold in 50 years! thanks in part to the Bo-dyn sled project.

i also like the cross-country skiing events. especially the biathlon. what kind of condition do you have to be in to ski, then stop and shoot targets in 3 different intervals?

I'll watch most of the events, but my favorite by far is ski jumping. I like to try to guess the distance just by watching the takeoff. After you watch a bunch of them you can start to get a feel for it.

next would be the downhill and also both types of speed skating. especially that short track version where they whip around. its kind of like horse racing, you have closers and speed types, drafting, strategy, inside and outside lanes, they can get boxed in, photo finishes and sometimes there are fantastic wipeouts and guys that DNF.

i hate that the nhl is on hold for two weeks while the olympics are going on. too bad!
i don't enjoy figure skating, something my mother always tuned into-i don't think any 'sport' that's judged should be included. but then, i always thought skating would be much improved if they threw in a random check once in a while-now that i would watch!

On a somewhat related topic, Vancouver is on the short list of places I have never visited, but would like to someday. I hear it's beautiful there.

I remember him, but I'm nowhere near as old as you.

great place - so is Whistler -pity i only visited it in the Summer.

I love the Winter Olympics more than Summer games. I think Ski Jumping is one of the best sports to watch, it is simply sensational. Hoping Janne Ahonen wins it. Will also be glued to the Curling, Skeleton Luge, Bobsleigh, pretty much all the skiing events etc etc..

Unlucky Janne, only 4th in the Normal jump - you've a better chance on the large hill next week..
