There is a horse named Uptowncharlybrown that looks like a really nice horse. He broke his maiden very impressively at Tampa Bay Downs. He's running in a stakes race this coming Saturday at Tampa. He's coming back a little quick (3 weeks) but I think he will be able to handle it.

I posted about him in another thread but since this is the Derby prospect thread I figured I would mention Cowboy Gets Even in this thread. He won really impressively today and looks like he could be any kind if he stays sound as is handled right. He literally had 7-8 lengths of trouble and still won.

Ice Box for Zito was good today. His time was just 1/5 slower then older horses earlier in the card.

I bet the race, I boxed him with the Dutrow, and used them equally in pick 3's. I thought the Zito had turned the cornor in Florida the works were much sharper and appeared to be just going better, with that said the horse SUCKS. He pressed a slow pace, pressing other horses that suck and grinded out a win, the favorite is clearly horrible, he was visually ok in his maiden win but slow and he was really bad today. My guess is Ice Box is not far away from being a claimer. When Steve first posted this race, I went into formulator and looked and I thought to myself it would end up being one the weakest "derby prep" allowances they run at the meet. |
