Without jockeys i will have nothing to bet on, give them what they want if they get hurt, they are making money but in the other thread i read most of them don't make squat, and live day to day like the rest of us. I really doubt most of the guys could afford regular insurance since it would be really expensive.

It is revenue from simulcasting that is guaranteed to the horsemen and is distrubuted through the purses ( so actually the jockey's already share in it ) and it amounts to $400 million annually nationwide.

Can anyone say gluttons?

And let me add....Cannon Shell is 100% correct.

Leftists from San Franciso's opinions dont really hold much water with the rest of us Americans.

i am PROUD to disagree with cannon shell (his name is about as bad as loser's too, imo, of course)

Though I probably should not bother responding to someone who needs to read the Bloodhorse to formulate a stance on any industry related matter, It is raining very hard and I am bored so here goes.

Lesson #1- If you dont understand the issue, take the time to study it or keep quiet.
Lesson #2- The problem with you people on the left is that you never understand the issues and consequences, you want to take on personalities. Therefore this person said something that I dont like so I wont listen to anything that he/she says.
Lesson #3- Most Americans are not going to sympathize with leftist's from SF.
Lesson #4- (To myself) Dont respond to little kids or fools!

The TRA money that was given to the jocks guild in the past was simulcast money which was more than enough to cover the jocks... Dr. G felt they should get more (so he could get more of course) There was a continuing arguement that Jocks should be paid like every other pro athelete.... my brothers are pro's... in rowing (should say where.... one had a career ending injury) yet they did'nt get pay or benefits of any kind.. we all chose... yes this is different as it is a gambling entity... but until we bring back the regalness of the sport... we are all doomed! How many of you have insurance? How many of you work with horses? (not implying that if you don't then you don't understand... just that insurance is way out of reach for the average American). All tracks need slots... then I wouldn't mind simulcast moneys going to insurance for ALL in the industry.. including Trainers!!

I work with horses and I dont have insurance other than what my boss has which covers me up to a million dollars. I recently looked into getting myself some health insurance and came to find out that with pre- exsisting injuries(from riding races) and the line of work Im in (excercise riding) it would cost me no less than 400.00 a month to get insurance and that is only basic with dental, no vision. I dont agree that anyone should pay for anyone's personel health insurance period but I do believe that while on the job workers should be taken care of with no limit.
