Vasquez gives them a solid guy to get them 200+ innings and keeps Hughes in the pen (or Joba if they wise up). For the next 3 years it should be a big positive for NY. After that, who knows.

LF who plays chuck?

It is December. They could throw Nady there. Isnt he still signed? They could sign a FA. They could resign Damon. They could do a lot of things. Replacing Melky Cabrera isnt very hard because he isnt very good.

He was an All Star in the first half. Granted he struggled in the 2nd half. I guess some people can't forgive him for getting called into a base loaded jam and being forced to throw a strike in a very tough situation. Get over it! He wasn't the reason they lost to the Red Sox in 2004. It's a good deal for the Yanks.

He had a rough second-half but supposedly was hurt that year. I'm a big Melky fan even though I realize he's not that good, but his value is nothing near Vasquez's. I think they'll try to re-sign Damon for a year and then go after Crawford next year.

Melky is named after a great candy bar though. The Milky Way is an art form among candy bars. All that gooey caramel underneath the delicious chocolate. Try one frozen but dont bite down on it, just savor the amazing combination of chocolate & caramel.

Do Mark Grace, Ryan Sandberg, and Andre Dawson still play baseball?

Does Harry Carry still call games?

Thought so ... it's the most unwatchable sport ever. Even for a stats geek like me. I can't even watch it when I'm bombed.

gales, are you living in a bubble? I'm a Mets fan and this is the biggest raping of the offseason since Cliff Lee. Vazquez will come to the Yankees and have close to a 5.00 ERA and still be a success. Melky will be lucky to last 5 more years in the majors. Just like the Phillies with Lee, this is another salary dump. No one that knows baseball and doesn't have some sort of salary cap on them ever considers this trade.
