very somber thread indeed... Happy Ticket was one of my favorites and her loss still breaks my heart. I hope these horses realize the joy they bring to our lives. they are all missed.

RIP.

Very sad, but thoughtful and warm post. Thanks for not only remembering the obvious good ones who lit up our Saturday afternoons, but also the hard knockers who ran every other week on Wednesdays and Thursdays. I hadd no ide we lost Sigh You or Gun Rock. RIP.

Lovely thread, thanks.

How do I say goodbye to what we had?
The good times that made us laugh
Outweigh the bad.

I thought we'd get to see forever
But forever's gone away
It's so hard to say goodbye to yesterday.

I don't know where this road
Is going to lead
All I know is where we've been
And what we've been through.

If we get to see tomorrow
I hope it's worth all the wait
It's so hard to say goodbye to yesterday.

And I'll take with me the memories
To be my sunshine after the rain
It's so hard to say goodbye to yesterday.

And I'll take with me the memories
To be my sunshine after the rain
It's so hard to say goodbye to yesterday.

"get me a tissue,Tito"
Mem'ries,
Light the corners of my mind
Misty water-colored memories
Of the way we were
Scattered pictures,
Of the smiles we left behind
Smiles we gave to one another
For the way we were
Can it be that it was all so simple then?
Or has time re-written every line?
If we had the chance to do it all again
Tell me, would we? Could we?
Mem'ries, may be beautiful and yet
What's too painful to remember
We simply choose to forget
So it's the laughter
We will remember
Whenever we remember...
The way we were...
The way we were...

What a sobering list, especially when one considers the horses that we lost track of.

RIP to these magnificent animals. Run with the wind, dance on the clouds, and fly with the angels.

Here is another organization that provides (and has provided) funding to a number of thoroughbred rescue and retirement facilities around the US:
