While he hasn't missed much time this year (aside from a 2 month break after his comeback win), there are red flags starting to pop up. First, Ron Ellis is quoted as saying he came out of his work prior to the Pomona race "a little funky". In that race he got out horribly going into the first turn and finished up the race short strided (whereas he usually fought gamely--even when losing--in prior starts). Either he was hurting, didn't particularly care for dirt, or both.

In his last 2, he has not shown his customary :44+ speed and has finished off the board. Given that he finished in the exacta in 7 of his first 9 starts while racing on the front end, this doesn't bode well.

In addition to dropping down a level today, he also does not have a recorded breeze since his last race.

If he is able to hold up for a few more races, it would be interesting to see how he handles two turns, given his pedigree (his 2nd dam is a Grade 1 winner BTW).
Hey its risky but horses with issues are the ones that can turn out to be the most profitable or on the other hand the biggest disasters. If there is nothing to fix they usually wind up deteriorating in form anyway.

Just curious Chuck...what issues are you able to deal with and which ones end up being nothing but a money pit? For example...joints, breathing problems etc.

Sometimes it isnt the specific issue but the degree of severity, especially with breathing issues. Tendons can be really bad. Sometimes all a horse needs is a little rest before a bunch of small things that are bothering them and affecting performance become big things. Not all owners can afford or are patient enough to give a lot of time off to a claimer.

I think Y.B. got hurt in the final 16th of the Louisiana Derby. He never gave up ground to anyone before that, and he has been giving up ground ever since. What is the other view? After he got beat, his attitude changed? If they thought that, then why wouldn't they've gelded him by now?

Yep, but this specific horse seems to be going the wrong way quickly, when just last May (6f in 1:08+ for the 3rd time in his career) he seemed a stakes calibur horse. From a handicapping (and jaded) point of view, I wouldn't be looking for this horse to turn it around unless Mike Mitchell or John Sadler happens to claim him.

I'm sure Spirit Of Cochise has issues, too, but he is in good form at the moment at least, having won his last start.

If someone claims Y.B., my first guess is it's O'neill. That guy must stop for a thrift shop.

As of today ... I think Vic S. is still Rosario's agent.. he might be a little better suited to answer that question.

That would be down at about my #34,529th best reason to orgasm on a wall.

Horses go sour all the time ... that type of stuff happens. However, Yankee Bravo basically went from being a very sucky slowpoke you thought was a live Derby horse .. to now being a sour sucky slowpoke.
