i'd have rather had him locked up as he should have been years ago. there'd be four families that wouldn't be in mourning right now. but no, some effing politician was told this guy found god, so he cut him loose. that's five people dead now because of mike huckabee, super preacher.

Oh I think the judge who gave him a bond he could make on a child rape case, with his criminal past bears some blame.

Simply shocking that they let this guy out to begin with? The fact that he raped a relative of Bill Clinton may prompt people to think that the release was to somehow piss off the Clintons. Huckebee is done. There is no way to spin out of this... It happened on his watch.

you're confusing this case with wayne dumond, another granted clemency by huck only to commit murder.

it's a damn shame when a pol has not one, but two incidents to answer for. unbelievable! such hubris on huck's part. and his statement on the subject...here it is:

The senseless and savage execution of police officers in Washington State has saddened the nation, and early reports indicate that a person of interest is a repeat offender who once lived in Arkansas and was wanted on outstanding warrants here and in Washington State. The murder of any individual is a profound tragedy, but the murder of a police officer is the worst of all murders in that it is an assault on every citizen and the laws we live within.

Should he be found to be responsible for this horrible tragedy, it will be the result of a series of failures in the criminal justice system in both Arkansas and Washington State. He was recommended for and received a commutation of his original sentence from 1990, this commutation made him parole eligible and he was then paroled by the parole board once they determined he met the conditions at that time. He was arrested later for parole violation and taken back to prison to serve his full term, but prosecutors dropped the charges that would have held him. It appears that he has continued to have a string of criminal and psychotic behavior but was not kept incarcerated by either state. This is a horrible and tragic event and if found and convicted the offender should be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law. Our thoughts and prayers are and should be with the families of those honorable, brave, and heroic police officers

the problem there is that many times judges are hamstrung by rules regarding bonds and when they can be denied. they can set it high, but they can't just not set it in many cases. the other problem is that those arrested only have to put up one tenth of the amount of bond. $150k is a lot of money, $15k is a lot easier to come up with.

but, had his original sentence not been commuted, we wouldn't even be having this discussion.

apparently at least four friends and relatives of his have been arrested so far for helping him escape. more arrests to come.

like i said above, our whole justice system needs to be examined.
