Just caught Hour 1 on the replay... Sincere appreciation to Julien Leparoux, his agent Steve Bass and owner Ken Ramsey for their wonderful treatment of a Leukemia-stricken child and his dad Saturday at Retama. Was as moving a moment as I think there's ever been on the show.

The child, a regular listener, heard talk of the big stakes at Retama last week and made his dad see if Leparoux, his favorite and namesake, was riding. He of course was on Ramsey's 2 Kittens, and the father reached Bass to see if they could meet Leparoux. Not only did they meet him, but Leparoux took him to the jock's room, loaded him up with goggles, autographs and crops, and Ramsey took the pair into the winner's circle for both races. It was an unforgettable experience for father and son, and a wonderful example of the game playing to its' greatest strength.
