Dodgers versus Phils

Gander, I think 6 teams (Phils, Yanks, Cards, Boston, Halos, and the Dodgers) were capable of winning it all. I honestly don't think the Rocks n' Twinks had enough pitching. The two teams that are going to meet (Phils n' Yanks) are there for two fundamental reasons. I say fundamental, because people make this stuff way too difficult.

1) Swing at Strikes. Stop swinging at balls. Sounds easy. No, it is evidently not. Look at Casey Blake swing at the low outside pitch last night, and ground to the shortstop. Look at Manny swing on the pitch that Durban threw way inside (that handcuffed him badly.) These 2 people are not paying attention to the fundamentals of this game. To be honest, I think Philly has just collected a smarter group of people. Yes, power is important, but it's this plate discipline that separates them from others in the post. If they were swinging at balls, they couldn't use their power. Well, the Broxton situation is different. That fkn choke was gunna center cut one of them, regardless. The Yanks are also doing well at this, but the Phils are superior at this. They are certainly one of the most plate-disciplined teams we've seen in a while.

2) Throw strikes on the corners, and have command. Well, the Dodgers were certainly abysmal at this, and it's been Mr. Kershaw's problem from day one. I told Cannon that the series depended a lot on how this individual pitched. He failed at command. He does this often, and it keeps him from being an ace. I don't know if this individual will ever gain command. Really, once this guy came up short, I knew they had no shot, and that's why I called the series over after the 5th inning of the 1st game. I knew they would then lay down, and they did. He needed to pitch like he did against the Rocks. He didn't. A great deal of their future depends on managing this guy. They've not done this well. Too much tea drinkin' etc. , and not enough management of players going on. Not nearly enough plate discipline being taught, and a horrible job at getting pitchers like Kershaw to command their pitches. Doesn't help that they refused to get the one ace pitcher available. Philly wanted to win more. Paid the price for him. Colletti etc. did what? -> hem n' haw.. hem n' haw. BTW, the Yanks n' Phils are about even on this starting pitching right now. I'm going to guess the Phils solve C.C. before the Yanks solve Lee. I think the Phils will win it, but it depends so much on the Yanks plate discipline. The Phils plate discipline will be there. If the Yanks have plate discipline, then it will be a very close series. If they don't have that, it's gunna be a very short series.

He led MLB in hits allowed per 9 innings. CK had a 2.78 ERA in 31 starts. in 171 innings he allowed 119 hits. He struckout 185 batters in 171 innings. He only allowed 8 Hr's all year. The guy is one of the two or three top young pitchers in the game. Try being an Astros fan.

Another Philly pet bitch. Stop excusing the guy's lack of nad. He's a scared choke with good stuff. We collect them. He's got the stuff to pitch like he did against the Rocks in game 161. He didn't do it in any of the opportunities in the post. He was lucky St. Louis didn't destroy him. He wasn't challenging people that day, either. He is scared. Honeycunt is mediocre (just for Danzig, I'll say "very mediocre.") There were no dominant pitching efforts by his students in the post. We need somebody with more in that spot. That tentative pitching by his students in the post should be proof that he is not the one to teach a future ace. He will continue to produce candy a-s-s types like Brox n' Billingsley. That's where Sandy Ker Gone is headed. He will get better with his stuff, but he will not be quite what he should be, and he will choke in the post. Look..You call it whining, but look at these pitching efforts in the post. Ker had no control in either effort. Randy struggled early on with control, and seems to always struggle with that. Give Kuroda a pass, because he is probably not telling the truth about his health. He certainly had no idea where the ball was going (none.) Padilla isn't Honeycunt's student. Sherril certainly had virtually no control. There is a theme (pitchers choking in the post.) Seems obvious that this is not the guy to be in their ear. He certainly has done zero zip nada to get Brox to challenge people with his best stuff early in the count. I just see pitchers acting scared under this pitching coach. You know, this was a scared junk pitcher when he was pitching here. He is the last one to be teaching men how to compete on a pitching mound. Your boy Sandy Ker Gone better get a new teach, or you're gunna keep talking about post-season potential (instead of actual post-season results.) Look!! One time. Does Brox have a ton of talent? Fk yea. Does Billingsley? Fk yea. Does Kuroda? Oh fk yea. Ask the Cubs about these three. Does Sandy Ker Gone have talent? Oh, si senor!! Well, they are all choking in the post, and all have the same teacha. What about the skinny tall brotha? They managed to f him up, too. That's 5 guys that are under-producing. At least one should be a post-season ace. They aren't. The only guy pitching to his ability is Randy, and (like you said) he isn't that good.

That was unbelievable. Then after Morales looks pathetic on the first pitch curveball, they go back to fastballs. Then after he gives the Angels the lead, they promptly go back to the curve and embarrass Izturis. Those runs were so avoidable.

Didn't they say Brox n' Billingsley just needed to mature? They didn't. Maybe they would in a more professional situation. That's my point. This here finishing school ain't cutting it. I'm not saying he wouldn't be an ace somewhere else. He probably would be.

Under pressure, that choker can't control junk pitches. That's what Rollins said he knew. Said she has a slider, but she's not been able to throw it to him for a strike. Look at the last pitch of the Cardinal series. She has enough movement on the fastball, but when she gets to choking, then it's "still lake." I know her problem. She's a highly talented choker.
