"Sickening"?? Clearly your attitude is, screw everyone else in the world, friends and allies included.

There comes a time when circumstances dictate that you walk alone...but our govt doesn't have the guts to do it anyway. My attitude is if giving aid to the world isn't working out for us.....then we need to help our own. Clearly, there are many needs in our country that should be addressed soon.

Also: every year the prize is given, I wonder: when will the U.S. soldier win the Nobel Peace Prize? No individual (or individual unit of men) has freed more people in history than has the United States soldier.
The Nobel peace prize is a booby prize.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20091013/...el_peace_obama

Jagland singled out Obama's efforts to heal the divide between the West and the Muslim world and scale down a Bush-era proposal for an anti-missile shield in Europe.
"All these things have contributed to — I wouldn't say a safer world — but a world with less tension," Jagland said by phone from Strasbourg, where he was attending meetings in his other role as secretary-general of the Council of Europe.
Aagot Valle, a left-wing Norwegian politician who joined the Nobel panel this year, also dismissed suggestions that the decision to award Obama was without merit.

So missile defense is now a bad thing?

Left wing Norwegian politician's need to remember who protects them from the big, bad wolves of the world.

The left-leaning committee whose members are appointed by the Norwegian Parliament lauded the change in global mood wrought by Obama's calls for peace and cooperation, and praised his pledges to reduce the world stock of nuclear arms, ease U.S. conflicts with Muslim nations and strengthen the country's role in combating climate change

Pretty ironic for a guy who is the leader of a country involved with 2 wars with Muslim countries.

And I still dont know how exactly "climate change" has anything to do with peace.

Blame the US military, not Obama. Our military are the ones advising Obama to drop it, and shift emphasis on other shortrange missile defense.

No, the military has objected since Bush-Cheney.

Obama listened to the military commanders when he gave the order to kill the pirate hijackers.
