Of course, traditionally it has been standard procedure that winners of the prize do their peacemaking first and are only given the prize after they have achieved something. But this innovation sweeps aside such old-fashioned notions of reward following effort.

Poland is stunned to see the Nobel Peace Prize given to U.S. President Barack Obama. You can always count on Poland’s outspoken ex-president and its best-know Nobel Prize laureate Lech Walesa to be undiplomatic:

“Who? What? So Fast?” he said when reporters told him about the latest Obama win.

The Nobel Peace Prize has been a joke for years now. It's just not funny.
