One of the unintended consequences of the synthetic Breeders' Cup is the adverse effect that it has had on the turf races. A horse like Ventura runs in the Filly & Mare Sprint instead of the Mile; Gio Ponti and Einstein to the Classic (with the exception of Precious Passion, will there be any notable American horses in the Turf); and several Euros in "main track" races instead of turf fixtures.

At least the talk of making Keeneland a permanent host of the event has cooled down.
