Well, I assumed they got him to do what he did for the A's in 2006. That is to pile on in the 2nd half, and help a contender draw off in August/ early September. Then be an offensive leader in prime time (hit well in the post-season.)

He is a piece of garbage. You can tell in some of the comments in the newspaper that they couldn't stand this guy. Hell, even Derek Lee who likes everyone reached out and he said "He'll have to call me now" or something to that effect.
