I dont follow Trakus, maybe Fat Man has a better gauge, is this normal for the winner of a big race?

According to Trakus calculations, Zenyatta ran her last quarter mile in :22.49 and reached her maximum speed of 40 mph at the wire.

also, is this fast?

five-sixteenths of a mile in approximately 28.20 seconds

These aren't TRAKUS charts. The data is from the chartmaker, so there most certainly will be some difference in positions (and lengths behind) and splits. More often than not, the differences are not significant.

I got the info from the del mar site, not yours. My question is when does the winner reach top speed at the wire, that cant be normal, and 22.5 final 2 furlongs?

This is a case where the TRAKUS chart and the chartmaker's don't jibe. It appears that while the 6F lengths behind is consistent between the two (around 7), the chartmaker has Z 4th, 4.5 lengths behind at 8F, gaining only 2 lengths, while TRAKUS has her 3rd, only 1 3/4 lengths behind, a gain of double that.

This is why accurate data has to be a top priority.

I'll generate the TRAKUS chart at some point.

EDIT: actually, this is because the TRAKUS DATA (and splits) is for 2F, 4F, 6F, 8F, and finish
while, the traditional chart (position and lengths) for this distance would be: 2F, 4F, 6F, STRETCH, and finish

I appreciate everyone's hard work on whatever their system, but this is why watching a race for yourself is the best measure there is, IMO.
