Del Mar Website has her coming home the final 1/4 in 22.57. That is smoking.

That was a really retarded ride by Smith.

It made me think of Desoremoan, they way he overthought things.

How so? He rode her the same exact way he always rides her? That style is her style, it's what she does. He's not going to put her into the race at the half because the pace is slow, that's not her element.

She made up 4.5 lengths on Anabaa's Creation through the final 2.5 furlongs.

People don't realize that the paces always appear slow going 8.5 furlongs at Del Mar.

Yesterday Alw Race: 24.82 49.62 1:14.13 1:38.17 1:44.36

Zenyatta Race: 23.86 48.84 1:13.64 1:37.28 1:43.24

Alw race first quarter: 24.82 - Alw race final 6.5fs: 1:19.54

Zen race first quarter: 23.86 - Zen race final 6.5fs: 1:19.38

Who cares about the final 6.5? What is the final 2.5, that is what I would look at? If its less then 30 its flying.

anyone hoping for her to go vs males next out off another crusher vs her own sex can forget it. no way they take on males now, when she barely eked out a win at equal weights today. and yes, i know what the pace was early. they want her to go out perfect, so i doubt they take on any challenges at this point as is their right. she's a nice horse for sure, and has been fun to watch.

Dream on girl they have to take on the males next or retire her now instead of after the Breeders Cup.

Nashoba's Key won this race 2 years ago closing from dead last into fractions of 25.93 - 51.07 - 1:16.37 ... but that was back when it was really polycrap.

Too bad Hallowed Dreams didn't race in modern day SoCal--she'd be one of the all-time greats.

Nashoba's Key was 4 for 4 on synthetics with all major wins.

Remember all the grief I got for saying Zenyatta was better than her?

Everytime I look at them .. I think the last place finisher was a runaway winner at first glance.

She's run a wipe-out in EVERY one of her races EXCEPT 2: today's race and the Milady this May. (This doesn't include the dirt race.) I suppose that there might be a race or two where the chartmaker is wrong and some other horse is gaining trivially the last split but this is pretty amazing. I don't have back charts for comparsion but I suppose Personal Ensign was probably the only other horse to dictate the type of race that was going to be run EVERY time she got out there.

Zen race first quarter: 23.86 - Zen race final 6.5fs: 1:19.38
the notable thing was zenyatta coming from last into the teeth of the setup.

a side note- 8.5 furlongs is a short distance for her to be running with her size and talent and the goals she has on the horizon. I know it's only August, and she can "only run what they card" etcetc...

Oh, he touched her. She was in a drive. Not that it really matters - nor would she have come home any slower had he merely hand rode her home.
