One of the biggest mis-conceptions in racing is assuming that when a horse closes at a distance of a mile or less, then that horse is going to love added distance. This is certainly not the case. I am not saying that Quay wont like the added distance, but to assume a horse will like longer distance just because he/she can close in sprint races is not good handicapping.

Hes not really a closer. He lopes along and then hits you with a tremendous burst.
Most closers are defined as types who grind away by running even 1/4's.
Also, the pace of hsi most recent race was a large reason why he was so far behind(being a complete goofball is another).
His running style is exactly the style that strikes me as that of a horse who will be more effective the farther that they go.
