![]() Battle of Hastings isn't much and begs to bet against here off that perfect trip...if Nicanor can do a bit of rating, he's definately good enough to win this race. Question is, whether he gets hammered at the windows like usual.

he's gonna be 2nd choice in a G1 (IMO) and thats laughable as to how NOT loaded this field is, and how his pedigree will still get him overbet -bt- |

I think there's an excellent chance that races like the Secretariat, Jamaica and Hollywood Derby (G1 for 3YO on turf) will be won by horses in this field. NT |

no, but when you're a race track and you prop your biggest race up with headlines like this: Nicanor, A Full Brother to Barbaro, Headlines $750,000 Virginia Derby FieldShare Today at 7:38am A field of ten three year old horses entered Monday afternoon’s post position draw for the 12th running of the $750,000 Virginia Derby (Gr. II) at Colonial Downs. The Derby... it kinda gets annoying, but hey thats just me -bt- |

Now, I think the winner will probably come out of the Colonial Cup. The only 'other' horse that has a shot is Hold Me Back, assuming he takes to the turf. I realize that SS looks like a nice trip betback. However, he almost certainly will not get the same trip. Obviously, he'll be able to stalk, in fact, he'll have to, as there's enough pace in the race where he shouldn't be able to sniff the front. There should be plenty of pace action/moves in the race and I suspect the VD will be won by an off the pacer. The race should set up well for Lime Rickey, Hold Me Back, and, yes, Battle of Hastings. |
